Dr. Couch is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA. Dr. Couch completed a residency in anesthesiology at the University of South Florida (1992-1995) and a fellowship in pain management at the University of California at Los Angeles (1995-1996).

In 1997, Dr. Couch founded Physicians' Pain Specialists of AL, PC (PPSA) at the 2001 Springhill Ave. location, he was very pleased to see how PPSA's has grown into a cutting-edge comprehensive pain management center in the south, from the initial single modality interventional pain clinic, just as he envisaged back in 1997 when he started PPSA.

Dr. Couch is triple boarded in Anesthesia and Pain Medicine/management and currently serves as the President of Alabama Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ALSIPP) and Treasurer of Alabama Society of Addiction Medicine.

Dr. Couch is actively involved in clinical research as well as teaching residents and fellows for medical institutions. Dr. Couch  has published numerous articles on peer-reviewed medical journals.
